Homes made for lakefront living

Posted on Monday, December 22nd, 2008 at 3:24 pm

We are currently constructing our 4th home in Lakefront Estates and are looking towards the future for the next home.  As a Realtor, I deal with different people everyday but have realized that buyers have some of the same priorities for their lakefront homes.  Through our research, we have found that one level living, energy efficiency, and handicap accessibility are important to our buyers and have therefore included these features in our homes that are currently under construction.

For the next home, we want your opinion.  We would like to hear your feedback on what key elements YOU, our prospective buyers, think should be included in our next lakefront home.  Any comments or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Marty

a priority for me would be lots of large windows facing the water….and a maid to clean them

Concerned about smaller size homes, what do you have available equiped with those features? Future concern is living on a limited income and not having to worry about high heating/cooling costs thus a smaller home. Thanks, Russ

Hello, we are a bit new to the scene here and like what we see. For us we would more desire a master bedroom suite on the first floor. A second floor bedrooms for family and guests. My wife would want a oversized kitchen, as she bakes and cooks to near obsession. NOT that I’m complaining!

Also more inclined to the farmhouse design with wrap around porch both for the front as well as lakeside. Find your more level lots much more of an appeal than some other places we have visited.

Would also like to learn more about the local area as folks such as us that are out of state and who know practically nothing of TN, of what sort of lifestyle one would have living here.

Open floor plan is key for me. I was also wondering if there will be trees planted? Are there any waterfront lots that are wooded? The view from your spec homes are absolutely beautiful.
Thanks,

Eustice – You’re not alone in your farmhouse preference – I think the couple who bought Lot 12 are going to build that style home, too. Makes a lot of sense to have all that porch on the water!

Lifestyle here is very “natural” with the water, woods, & four distinct seasons. Spring City is a quaint, small town and very laid back, but Chattanooga and Knoxville are within an hour’s drive and feature anything you could want as far as shopping and entertainment.

Carmen,

There are actually more wooded lake lots in Lakefront Estates than cleared ones. Lots 1-22 are wooded, some more heavily than others, and lots 36-57 are also wooded. We do plant some native trees on TVA property right at the water on the lot lines between the homesites and the docksites. They are winterberry, serviceberry and sumac mostly. We plant them to expand privacy, but try never to block the lake views from the future homes and existing homes.
