Watching the sun rise

I walked into Lot 31’s kitchen and little keeping room early this morning just as the sun was coming up over the lake.  I can see myself sitting there in a big recliner with a cup of coffee.

Homes made for lakefront living

Posted in Homes, Lakefront Living | 6 Comments »

We are currently constructing our 4th home in Lakefront Estates and are looking towards the future for the next home.  As a Realtor, I deal with different people everyday but have realized that buyers have some of the same priorities for their lakefront homes.  Through our research, we have found that one level living, energy efficiency, and handicap accessibility are important to our buyers and have therefore included these features in our homes that are currently under construction.

For the next home, we want your opinion.  We would like to hear your feedback on what key elements YOU, our prospective buyers, think should be included in our next lakefront home.  Any comments or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Ahmed – We miss you!

Walt & Ahmed

Today we got the video footage of Lakefront Estates from RIVR Media, the people that produced Blog Cabin for DIY.  I kind of miss those guys and gals from DIY who built the log cabin.  I guess they are settled in California where it’s warmer for the winter.  But then, I love having 4 seasons like we have here in Tennessee.

Ahmed Hasson from the DIY Blog Cabin said he was going to keep up with us when he left, but we haven’t heard from him yet.  Ahmed, are you out there?  We’d love to hear from you and all those Blog Cabin bloggers.

Love the cabinets!

I took this picture last week in lot 31 when I was trying to take pictures for the website.  I love the colors our interior designers picked for the cabinets and counters.  They are still working hard in there, but the interior is really coming along.  This kitchen gets a lot of natural light off the lake and the view is so pretty.

Lot 19 has stone

The house on Lot 19 is really coming along and the stone looks great!  The heating and air contractor was there working on Saturday and I saw that the cabinets had been delivered, too.  But, of course, the best parts are that terrific lake view and Watts Bar Lake shoreline!

One hour from work – that’s a good idea

A family from Knoxville bought a lake lot from us the other day.  He said they wanted to be at least one hour from work so they wouldn’t be tempted to go back and forth on weekends.  Makes a lot of sense to me.

What a view!

Even with the lake water level dropped a few feet for the winter, the view out the back of lot 31 at 2 miles of water is magnificent.

That’s quite a Christmas present!

Congratulations are in order for Patricia “Gayle” Donaldson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the proud winner of DIY Network’s Blog Cabin Sweepstakes!

A fan of DIY and the family of Scripps Networks channels (including HGTV and Food Network), Donaldson is overwhelmed at being the winner of the gorgeous Barna log home at Lakefront Estates on beautiful Watts Bar Lake. Read more about the contest and the winner here.

When the dock is worth more than the house

Posted in Docks & Boats | No Comments »

With 55 of our homesites directly on the water, we know how important having a private dock is to many of our visitors. We ran across a Wall Street Journal article about how in some parts of the country homeowners are paying big premiums for waterfront homes that come with their own dock. That’s not exactly the case here at Lakefront Estates, but you can read the article here.

Two new lakefront homes under construction

Posted in Homes | 1 Comment »

After the sale of our first lakefront homes earlier this year, we began building two more homes slated for completion in 2009.

The home on Lot 19 will be 3,654-square feet and features three bedrooms on the main level with access to an outdoor entertainment area with fireplace. The 2,930-square-foot home on Lot 31 has a huge deluxe kitchen with windows overlooking the water and a three-car garage.

Both homes are designed for those seeking the convenience and safety of a one-level floor plan. I was just out on the property today and it’s a beautiful December day with the sun shining in the water.
